The Shubert Theater opened in New Haven in 1914 and has been known ever since as the birthplace of the Nation’s Greatest Hits. Since it’s opening the Shubert has been a favorite try out venue for top producers. Before bringing their shows to Broadway, Rogers and Hammerstein previewed seven of their musicals here including Oklahoma, The King and I and The Sound of Music. The Shubert offers a great diversity of shows for every taste and budget.
