Louis’ Lunch has been a staple in New Haven for generations. It is said that the first hamburger ever was made here in 1900. Now Louis’ is known around the country for serving up the best hamburgers around. Hamburgers are pretty much the only thing on the menu. They are grilled to perfection and served on two pieces of white toast. The only acceptable garnishments are cheese, tomato and onion. You will never find ketchup or mustard in this establishment (and don’t try to bring in your own either!).
