Established in 1938 by Salvatore Consiglio, Sally’s Apizza is one of the oldest family run pizzerias in the Northeast. Their pizza is renown for its thin crust, bake in the same coal-fired oven that has been in operation for over 60 years. Sally’s Apizza has operated continuously operated since 1938. Today Sal’s wife Flo, daughter Ruth, son’s Bob and Rick still maintain the family tradition.
Sally’s has served pizza famous people over the years. The interior is decorated with pictures and memorabilia from notables include Frank Sinatra, Bill Clinton, Kathleen Turner, Don Rickles, Jimmy Durante and Gary Trudeau.
If you go, be prepared to wait. Part of the New Haven pizza tradition is waiting, but Sally’s is worth but is worth it.
Sally’s only serves pizza, soda and beer!
Take out is available. There might be a wait for take out orders too.
